Posted on Wednesday, September 27 2006

Moray MP Angus Robertson has welcomed the final signing of the agreement to bring a UN training centre to Moray. The centre will provide a training facility for local government and enterprise workers from througout europe and specialise in issues such as sustainability and environmental policy. The signing of the agreement by the UN puts in place the final seal of approval for the project to go ahead.Mr Robertson was part of a delegation that travelled to the UN offices in Geneva in May of this year to help the organisers sell the Findhorn site. At the time the UN were impressed and agreed the plan should go ahead. The signing has now cemented that.Commenting Mr Robertson said:" This agreement is fantastic news for Moray and my congratulations go to May East and her team for securing this project." The UN training facility in Moray will be a centre of excellence in Europe and will provide excellent contacts through which Moray can be showcased." Some of the most influential policy administrators at all levels of government will be welcomed for training in issues that are key to how we deal with environmental and sustainability strategies over the coming years. These are policy areas that will be vital to get right with the threat of global warming and the growing recognition of the damaging impact that we currently have on our environment." I have been delighted to support the project and I will continue to do what I can to help maximise its potential."Ends.
